MEI is a Ghana-based social enterprise dedicated to ensuring every girl has access to affordable, safe menstrual products and menstrual health education. We believe period poverty is not inevitable. It is solvable. And we are solving it.

"I grew up in Upper West Ghana watching girls around me quietly disappear from school every month. Not because they lacked intelligence. Not because they lacked ambition. But because they had their period and could not afford a pad.
I refused to look away.
I founded the Menstrual Empowerment Initiative in 2025 — while studying Entrepreneurial Leadership at African Leadership University — because I believed that period poverty is not inevitable. It is solvable. And I was going to help solve it.
Since then we have distributed 1,000+ pads, trained 700+ girls as producers, built a free health app with 80+ users, won the Global Youth Action Fund 2025, placed 2nd runner up at the Health Innovation Festival 2026 out of 37 ventures, and been selected for Demo Day in Kigali — all with GHS 27,000 and zero formal investment.
